Taking the First Step

Greg had always dreamed of owning his own home, a goal he started thinking about as a teenager. “I think the idea of having my own home probably came around when I was about 14, when I got my first job,” he shared. “I thought, okay, I can start working towards something—and that something was a house.”

When it was time to make that dream a reality, Greg chose Easystart Homes. “I decided to build with Easystart because they were really helpful,” he said. “Even during the pre-approval stages, when there was no commitment, I still felt like I was being looked after.”

Finding the Right Fit

Greg admits he was “completely green” when it came to building a home. But looking at floor plans online and having a consultant guide him through the options helped him feel more confident.

“The most important thing I wanted was a home that reflected me—something I’d be proud to come home to,” Greg explained. “Rosie helped me narrow down my choices because I think I picked about 20 designs at first!”

Greg’s vision was clear: he wanted a home that had living at the front of the house, a layout that felt personal and practical. With Rosie’s help, he found the perfect home design.

Overcoming Challenges as a First Home Buyer

Navigating the financial and land-buying processes can be tricky, especially for first-timers. Greg found it helpful to have everything in one place. “Working with Ryan from Westgate Finance was great,” he said. “Having Easystart’s finance team meant I didn’t have to scout around for a broker, and they really understood what I was looking for.”

Finding land was another hurdle, especially in a high-demand area where supply was limited. Greg wasn’t willing to move far from his original home, which made the search even tougher. “To have Rosie actually find and secure that piece of land for me was a huge relief,” he said.

The Big Moment

After months of planning, decisions, and waiting, the day Greg received his keys finally arrived. “It was just a massive relief that everything I worked towards actually worked out,” he said. “The feeling of having my own home was kind of insane to me—I didn’t know if it was something I could ever achieve.”

A Home That Feels Right

Now settled in, Greg couldn’t be happier with how his home turned out. His favourite part? The open-plan living area.

“The living space has such a good flow,” he said. “The kitchen wraps around to the laundry, and it all just works well together. It makes entertaining and even chores easier and more enjoyable.”

Reflecting on the Journey

Looking back, Greg is grateful for the support he received. “I’d like to thank Rosie, Dale, and everyone who helped me along the way,” he said. “From finance to land to floor plans, it was overwhelming at times, but they made it manageable.”

Greg’s journey is a reminder that building your first home is more than just a project—it’s a deeply personal experience. For Greg, it wasn’t just about having a house; it was about creating a space that truly felt like home.

Building your first home can feel like a big leap, but stories like Greg’s show that it’s possible with the right support. If you’re thinking about taking that step, know that there are people who will guide you through it, every step of the way.
