For first homebuyers Jamie Fowler and Kerry Burrows, the journey towards home ownership started with a desire to get into the established property market.
However, after a bit of research the duo discovered it was more beneficial to build a new home tailored to their needs. Speaking to New Homes, Mr Fowler said the building process was extremely efficient and quick.
“Easystart Homes and Summit were fantastic throughout the process, we can’t thank them enough,” he said. “The build itself was completed within six months.”
Situated on a 450sqm block, the couple opted for a 12.5m-wide home design, which Mr Fowler said provided side access and helped create an expansive area alongside the western edge of the block.
“We took advantage of this space and included a feature kitchen window,” he said. According to Mr Fowler, particular design attention was given to the main living areas of the home, including the kitchen, living and meals area.
“The kitchen is a standout space,” he said. “The builder included some great shelves that sit above the feature window, which runs parallel to the benchtop. “We also made the island bench larger, so you can sit and enjoy the sunset through the window.”
The kitchen features an alluring mix of crisp tones, with white subway tiles contrasted against a dark grey wall colour. Connected to the main living area is the central hallway and theatre room.
“To segregate the areas we decided to install internal sliding doors,” Mr Fowler said. “The doors help block off the theatre and hallway and work to compartmentalise the spaces within the house really well.”
Although Mr Fowler said it was difficult trying to visualise every design detail, the couple were very happy with the end result.
“I think you just need to remain consistent with your choices and have an overarching plan with what you want to achieve,” he said.
